I the latest version of Prat, there is a new module “Search”. This was actually a suggestion from a guildie of mine, and a pretty good one I think.

The new module allows you to search your chatframes for text you are interested in finding.

The 2 new commands are /find and /findall

/find <text> will search backwards through the chat history to find the text you asked for (case sensitive!)

/findall <text> will print of a list of all lines which contain the text you asked for (again case sensitive)

If you aren’t a Prat user, chatframe searching is still available via this WoW.curse.com/downloads/WoW-addons/details/chatsearch.aspx” rel=”nofollow”>standalone addon

Patch 4.0.1a went live today, implementing a number of bug fixes. Check out the notes below for more details.

The following issues have been addressed in the 4.0.1a minor patch.

• Using a “/cast!<pet ability” command no longer disconnects players.
• Mousing over objects that generate a cogwheel should no longer cause the client to freeze or disconnect.
• Guild Tabards should no longer display on characters not actually wearing the Guild Tabard.
• Floating combat text should always appear.
• NPC Health Bars/Nameplates are now appearing correctly.

The enhancements I’m going to show today are all located in the HighCPU addon.

So first off, lets enable it.

Now, we are going to explore a few features in the Playernames module.

Color Names Everywhere does what you might think. Instead of just coloring the player links according to class, it colors names it finds in the messages themselves.

Now, occasionally you will have a name you don’t want colored. For those names there is the /pratblacklist <name> command.

Beyond coloring, we have some other options available to us. Showing the raid icon along with the player name

Adding invite links, so that when someone says “invite” you can just click on the link.

Similar to invite links is alt-invite. With alt invite you just hold down the alt key and click the name of the player you want to invite.

Now that we have explored the Playernames module a bit, we’ll look at Prat’s newest feature: Scrollback.

Scrollback allows your chatframes to remember your conversations. By default it records the last 50 messages on each frame.

There are quests, achievements and lots and lots of goodies, ranging from the supremely silly to the ultimate in usefulness. (Well, maybe not the ultimate. I just needed a “u” word to go with usefulness.)
